The Pinacoteca Nazionale in Siena, inaugurated in 1932 the present location of buildings and Brigici Buonsignori, is one of the most important collections of Italian paintings on panel with gold background of the fourteenth and fifteenth century Sienese. In the vast collection and 'documented the Sienese painting from the twelfth to the eighteenth century.
The Pinacoteca Nazionale di Siena is the most important art gallery in the city and one of the largest collections of paintings on a gold background of the fourteenth and fifteenth century Sienese in the world. The National Picture Gallery Siena, despite its construction dates from the fifteenth century, has a facade directly inspired by the medieval public building in the city, thanks to the restoration purists of the second half of the nineteenth century. The Palace is Brigidi instead of more ancient construction, fourteenth century, and is usually identified as the former residence of the family Pannocchieschi. On the second floor in the first two rooms we admire the most ancient works, including some of Guido da Siena. Grouped in four rooms there is a body of work by the hand of Duccio and his followers, reflecting the definitive statement of a Sienese school of painting at the highest level. Two rooms are devoted to Simone Martini and his followers. Other rooms are devoted to the moment of passage from the fourteenth century and the early Renaissance Siena, among which works by Taddeo di Bartolo. There are also locations occupied by artists such as Giovanni di Paolo, Stefano di Giovanni said Sassetta, witnesses of a period, the Renaissance Siena, little consideration. The High Renaissance and instead collected in two other rooms with works of Francesco di Giorgio Martini, Matteo di Giovanni and Bartolomeo Neroccio. The lodge building is a fine display of the Madonna of Humility by Domenico di Bartolo (1433). In the last room there is a rich gallery of paintings depicting saints of Siena. Downstairs you can admire works of the sixteenth century Sienese hands of artists such as Antonio Bazzi known as Il Sodoma (Christ at the Column and Deposition) and Domenico Beccafumi (Birth of the Virgin Mary and Saint Michael banishes the rebellious angels). The collection was begun by Abbot Joseph Ciaccheri the late eighteenth century and later expanded through donations and bequests, by 1930 it became state property. Since 1977 the building was opened in the Hall of Sculpture, with works by the Sienese masters of the XIV - XV century.
